Dear Friends, I'm putting on my backpack again for a trek through Turkey, maybe Greece on the side, and Jordan if need be. It's actually part work, part play - I won't mention the work part though :) My rough itinerary: - Istanbul - Visit the great ruins at Ephesus - Bodrum, entry to the Mediterranean coast - Marmaris - The island of Rhodes, Greece - Fethiye and the Lycian tombs carved out of the cliff - The abandoned ghost town of Kayakoy - Saklikent Gorge - Cruise along the Mediterranean Coast - Snorkel amongst ruins - Stay in a treehouse in Olympos - Hike to the eternal Chimaera flames on Mt. Olympos - The beautiful beach at Olu Deniz and the Butterfly Valley - The coastal town of Antalya - Sunken city ruins around Simena Island - Maybe check out the Throne of the gods on top of Mt. Nemrut - See the stunning landscape of Cappadocia - Stay in a fairy chimney or cave in Goreme - See the castle in Uchisar, hewn out of the rock cliff - Head far out to the Black Sea Coast via Trabzon - The Sumela Monastery - Visit the UNESCO protected town of Safranbolu - Stay in a historic Ottoman house If my work takes me to Jordan, I'll also cover: - Amman - Petra - the ancient city carved out of rock I know a lot of these places may not sound familiar to many of you - hopefully I'll shed some light on them in the coming weeks. As always, I'll do my best to experience the culture, discover the incredible history, and try all delicacies (odd or not!). In the meantime, if you haven't visited my website for a while, I put up galleries of my trip through Eastern Europe, Georgian Bay, and new photos of New York City and Long Island. Wish me luck! Jesse
